All 11 pieces on this album are improvised piano works. I was asked by the publisher to “play your improvisation like Keith Jarrett.”
Keith Jarrett said that, while he was improvising, he was always “moved by some kind of impulse”. He also described that “there was no longer a pianist” and “simultaneously there was no audience at the venue, which means everyone was equally in the music”.
There was no audience at the time of my recording, but as I was playing, my subjectivity had disappeared and my performance just went towards the direction the music wanted to go to. It was exactly like a “no pianist” experience.
I think that improvisational performances show all the humanistic aspects of the performer, including his/her strengths and weaknesses.
(As a musician), I do not aim to make complex music. I wish to create music that is easy to understand, to feel comfortable with, but to never get tired of, hoping that my music touches the hearts of those who listen to it. This is also what I aim for as my ideal human image.
These 11 pieces may make you image a variety of scenery, such as clear blue skies, rainbow after the rain, and powerful ocean waves, as well as mindscapes such as longing, nostalgia, joy, and sorrow, etc. Please relax and listen to them with your own free fantasy. May something meaningful arise and remain in your mind.
